Hi everyone,
When buying tickets for raffles you can see how many points you have and how many tickets you are able to buy, but you can't see how many tickets you already bought. Whould be great if this could be done somehow, sometimes I buy more tickets a different time than the first time you bought tickets and then you don't know when you will reach the limit.
Well, it'll always let you know when you've reached the limit, and you can't try to buy anymore after that, but you're right. it would be nice to be able to tell how many you've bought so far.
I just went to buy tickets for a raffle and noticed it said that any attempt to buy more than the maximum number allowed would result in an immediate ban. That is pretty scary if someone accidentally tries to buy more than the maximum allowed, so I agree it would be a good idea if we knew exactly how many we had already bought.
Another thing I'd like is to be told who wins the various raffles. I guess I'm just being nosy, but it would be cool to know.
becky, you can check. Under the past raffles heading, it'll tell you who won each particular raffle once the winner has been announced. Yeah. I do agree that attempting to buy more than the max shouldn't be a cause for immediate ban. At least, not without investigation. For example, yesterday I attempted to buy the max amount of tickets for the amazon gift card, and for whatever reason the page didn't load. so I refreshed the page to get it to load, and of course I got a message that said "You can't buy that many tickets". Well, I honestly didn't mean to, and I certainly don't think I should get banned because I refreshed the page. And if the page does refresh like it's supposed to, and you've bought the maximum amount of tickets allowed, it won't even let you try to buy more anyway, so you'd have to play around with the site to be able to attempt to buy more anyway, and that's already against the T.O.S. before these started. So if more situations like mine happen and for whatever reason it does let you buy more, just deduct the extra tickets and display a reminder that you can't buy that many.
Thanks. I hadn't seen the past raffles heading.
Same subject, different idea:
They should put the ones that everyone can sign up for under one link, and make the premium ones under a different link from within the raffels page.
I'm thinkin along the lines of this way standard people know what they can f sign up for, and still have the option to view what premium members can sign up for.
Could be a way to promote why becomeing a premium member might be a cool idea...

That clock is mine, I'm the winnner of that alarm clock with fm radio. I dreamt about my win last night, though.
And as per the bought tickets notification, I do agree. I dono how many I bought for that clock.
Raaj.
Thanks. We'll get that count added as well as a way to separate the regular from premium raffles. And don't worry. It won't let you buy more than the maximum.
These are both added now.
Cool, thanks.
Speaking of raffles, I noticed a rather odd situation that confuses me. I'm not trying to call this unfair, but to clear up the confusion.
There was a raffle for a billion points that somehow made it to the past raffles heading a day before it was supposed to, and it said that Adman was the winner. well, later that day I noticed that someone had corrected it, and that it was back where it belonged in current raffles. But this morning, when the raffle actually ended, it still says Adman is the winner. Was there a redrawing and it just so happened that Adman still won it? Or was there never a redrawing? because I bought tickets for that raffle since the incident was corrected sometime yesterday afternoon, so you'd think that unless there was a pure coincidence and the same ticket still won, a different ticket would be drawn. if this was just a coincidence, or if I somehow misunderstood, I appologize and you can disregard this post.
I bought tickets for it too and also noticed that the admin won.
I'm not sure why it showed for admin, but admin doesn't need points anyway, so it was redrawn.
Hmmm, and not sure why it would have moved to past raffles ahead of time. Will keep an eye on this.
i'd also like to point out that i've noticed that some people have wone more than one raffle. shouldn't it be limited to one win in say a month? give others a chance to win something?
Yes it could. Jay, you know how Am/FM does things. you may win once per every 30 days.
Sounds fair to me.
John
that sounds fair to me as well.
I think that's a good idea too.
Was wondering about that after it happened. So what would happen if you won a raffle? Would your tickets for the others just not be good? Obviously what's done is done since it wasn't in the rules, but I'm not against making this change.
I'm all for this as well. I'd say if you won a raffle, the tickets for the ones that have yet to be drawn are no good, although, since people didn't know that at the time of buying the tickets, perhaps their points should be refunded? Just a thought.
I sort of like this idea, but I also like the idea of being able to buy tickets for more than one raffle. For example, I bought tickets for two or three and didn't win any of them. But if I had won one of them, I'd be willing to concede that I shouldn't win anymore for that month, but having my points back would be nice.
i agree with getting your points back maybe, or at least a part of them.
It's an interesting programming challenge to figure out how to send points back, etc. The chances of this happening again probably aren't terribly high, so maybe you just forfeit your points and be happy with what you got. Will think about this some more.
Well, I think if I won a raffle, I'd be happy sacrificing points that I used buying tickets to other raffles, if it turns out that sending points back is too difficult.
When you buy tickets for several things offline you don't receive a refund if you win one of them, but not others. Like at a fund raiser or something, so I think when you spend your points they are gone. Just like if you don't happen to win anything you don't get your points back, they are lost, and you don't mind right? So if you win why should you get points back? I also see an issue with same people not being able to win more than once. Again you buy tickets and the drawings are chance, so a person that wins twice is just lucky. Maybe these could be held in sections, like the change every 30 days or so.
But here's the difference. points have no monitary value. Money does. the only use for points are the raffle tickets. and I certainly don't think you should get back any points for the raffles you have a chance of winning. I only suggested this as a one-time thing for the people who already won raffles, and bought tickets for another one before this once every thirty days suggestion came up, if it happens to be implamented. Also, as far as the people that have already won something are concerned, when you enter an official raffle that is giving away multiple prizes, they don't put one winning ticket back into the draw for the other prizes. At least, not in any of the raffles I've ever entered. In other words, one person can't win all or even two of the prizes given away in one raffle night. But if you come back to an event later on down the road, of course you're free to purchase tickets again. this is why I think the winners should be refreshed every thirty days or so. In other words, the winner does have a chance to win again, but not prizes offered at the same time as the one they have already won. I hope that makes sense.
The 30-day rule has now been put into effect and is listed along with the other raffle rules.
Thank you for implimenting this.
all great ideas
